Antarctic Ice Pilot participated in a Captain's rendezvous in Patagonia organized by South America Super Yacht Support Services (SASYSS)
Six lucky mega yacht captains and a representative from Rybovich a marina and yard in West Palm Beach Florida were shown the cruising highlights of Chile's Patagonia from Puerto Montt, Chile at 41S to Puerto Williams, Chile at 54S. The whirlwind trip included a stay at Lakutaia Lodge in Puerto Williams where Ashley Perrin of Antarctic Ice Pilot did a presentation on the cruising destinations of Antarctica, Chile, Falklands and South Georgia. This presentation included the logistics and permitting required for these stunning and remote cruising locations.
The group moved onto the stunning and not to be missed Torres Del Paine national park where they sampled the Patagonia lamb BBQ as well as visiting the 5* hotels of Singular, Hotel Remota, Explora. Some of the captains sucessfully fished the Serrano river with Mr. Rafael González of Magallanes Flyfishing . The trip continued with a visit to the rarely visited tidewater glacier at Laguna San Rafael, the closest glacier to the equator and is a outlet of the Northern Patagonia Ice Field. The group continued north to Oxxean Marina in Puerto Montt the usual jumping off point for yachts wishing to cruise the Patagonia Canals and onwards to Antarctica.
